Following its peak of production in the 1970's and use in roofing goods, much of the UK's commercial and industrial properties containing asbestos are now reaching the end of their serviceable lives.
Over-cladding - Introducing a new bar and bracket spacer system, upgrading insulation to meet regulations and provide a new steel coated weather sheet.
This is typically less disruptive to site and cheaper to achieve.
Remove and replacement (typically using composite panels) - full removal of the existing asbestos and replacing with a new compliant complete panel with integrated insulation.
Cut edges are inherently a weak point within any steel cladding system as an unavoidable consequence of the manufacturing process.
The lap joint points are susceptible to corrosion over time due to oxygen exposure, exacerbated by water and pollutants int eh atmosphere.
Left untreated can render the weather sheets in need of full replacement.
There is also the risk of the roof sheets becoming unfastened if the corrosion passes the fixing point.
We are approved installers of a wide range of treatment solutions to extend the life expectancy of the roof sheets.
Over time Rooflights are often affected by UV-degradation causing them to perish, lowering the level of natural light that is coming into the building and often causing water ingress issues.
Existing Industrial rooflights may be constructed from a range of materials including georgian wired glazing, PVC and reinforced polyester resin (GRP).
If you are considering replacing any of your buildings existing rooflights, we are able to complete a detailed survey to establish which rooflight is right for your requirements.
